Nuclear Energy In this blog I'd like to touch on something I haven't touched on yet which is Nuclear Energy and how it is produced. So first off what is Nuclear Energy? Nuclear energy is released during nuclear fusion or fission. Nuclear energy is basically the splitting of uranium atoms. We used nuclear energy in our every day lives in things such as power plants and electric turbines. Luckily nuclear energy does not emit greenhouse gasses. This is from them not burning fuels. Most people immediately think bad when they hear nuclear but that is not always the case. Nuclear Energy - How Energy Works - Duke Energywww.duke-energy.com › how-energy-works › nuclear-power

Energy is known for a variety of different reasons, it can vary from technology to simple forms of electricity. One huge access of energy comes from something that we access everyday, transportation. Transportation is used for a variety of different reasons and here are some demographics of the meaning of transportation and electricity. A few examples of energy and transportation co-inherit with each other include: Gasoline is used in cars, motorcycles, light trucks, and boats. Aviation gasoline is used in many types of airplanes. Biofuels are added to gasoline and diesel fuel. Natural gas, as compressed natural gas and liquefied natural gas, is used in cars, buses, trucks, and ships. Most of the vehicles that use natural gas are in government and private vehicle fleets. Natural gas is also used to operate compressors to move natural gas in pipelines. Electricity is used by public mass transit systems and by electric vehicles. All of these concepts he...

Pros and Cons of Wind Power Wind energy is derived from the wind rotating large wind mills and their turbines. These turbines convert the kinetic energy of the wind into mechanical power. Then a generator turns the mechanical power into electricity which can be used right then and there or be stored and used to give electricity to homes and other places. One turbine is able to power 1500 homes a year, and if the mill can produce more mega-watts then it can power up to 3300 homes a year. Pros: Doesn’t emit greenhouse gases or cause atmospheric emissions that cause acid rain. Sustainable and renewable energy: as long as the sun shines and wind blows, we can harness that energy and turn it into power and it wont run out unlike fossil fuels. It is completely free and doesn’t cost anything to harness the energy besides the installation of the turbines. Has the potential to make hundreds of thousands of jobs by 2050. Cons: Wind can fluctuate causing there to be less energy ...

Solar Satellites So first off what is solar satellites? According to energy.gov, solar satellites are solar panel equipped, energy transmitting satellites that are up in space that collect high intensity solar power by using giant mirrors to reflect solar energy to smaller solar panels. https://www.google.com/url?sa=t&rct=j&q=&esrc=s&source=web&cd=3&ved=2ahUKEwiZ4dmLitnnAhU-FjQIHcpQAV0QFjACegQIDRAJ&url=https%3A%2F%2Fwww.energy.gov%2Farticles%2Fspace-based-solar-power&usg=AOvVaw1nobjVP3xcs-ISwrqt-7j6 The mission for solar satellites are decided before they are built and most are to go around planets and the sun. The satellites can't be used if they are not in the earths orbit so they all have to at least be in earths orbit. We have never been able to service satellites that are outside of the earths orbit but they are hoping to be able to in the future. https://www.google.com/url?sa=t&rct=j&q=&esrc=s&sourc...

Another huge type of energy that I find satisfactory to our enivorment is renewable energy. Renewable energy can be compacted by two main servers, solar and wind. These producers can help save energy drastically for years to come. Clean energy has not just been known for lowering bills or helping unfortunate countries but it has made our earth more “green”. For the past 150 years humans have relied heavily on coal, oil and other fossil fuels to power everything for light to factories. Fossil fuels are embedded in our every day live. Greenhouses can help change this affect on our earth by using other materials. I find this type of energy satisfying. It can help change our world for the better. If some people could help incorporate this idea, the world can change for the better!

Hunter Peirce The source I get my information was an article called “Under Secretary for energy Mark W. Menezes delivered the Keynote Address at the Washington auto show”. From The website energy.gov. I learned so far from the article that the government is now lending $300 million to the Sustainable Transport Research in order to better our economy. They decided to split the funding between three different organizations, FOA, DOE, VTO. The main supporter was the VTO paying in $133 million. This will really help the economy use their energy resources with plenty more money to use to do so. This will help add in windmills and things such as that.

Solar energy is the technology used to harness the sun's energy and make it useable. As of 2011 , the technology produced less than one tenth of one percent of global energy demand. Many of today’s objects can be used and/or revolved around specific items such as handheld calculators, spacecrafts and rooftops. When sunlight hits the cells, it knocks electrons loose from their atoms. As the electrons flow through the cell, they generate electricity. I feel that our globe can be impacted by several different ways by using solar energy. Tax incentives and electricity generation are going to be my two main ideas for my upcoming blog!

Preston Martin What is Solar Power? Solar power is defined as obtaining power by harnessing the energy of the sun’s rays. A lot of people think that to have solar power you must have photovoltaic cells (solar panels), but there are many ways to obtain power from the sun’s energy. The solar panels are similar to computer chips but when the sun’s rays hit the outer layer, it moves the electrons around from their atoms. When the electrons bump around it creates electricity. Other means of solar power could be as simple as having big windows on the sunny side of buildings and having heat absorbent materials in the walls in floors so your can naturally heat the building. Some solar plants have mirrors that rotate while the sun moves throughout the day so sunlight can be directed to a collection spot. When the collection spot is heated it starts a generator. https://www.nationalgeographic.com/environment/global-warming/solar-power/#close
